Course Overview

Motor Mechanics are listed on Australia’s Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), indicating a high demand for professionals in this field.

The Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology equips students with the necessary skills to perform a variety of tasks in the light automotive industry. Advancing further, the Certificate IV in Mechanical Diagnosis enhances these skills by providing deeper insights into mechanical systems.

Throughout the course, students will gain expertise in diagnosing complex issues in light vehicle petrol engines, electronic spark ignition engine management systems, and braking systems.

The General Motor Mechanic (321211) occupation is currently included in the Skilled Occupations List. Skills assessments for mechanics are conducted by Trade Recognition Australia (TRA).

To receive a positive skills assessment, candidates must have completed a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or a Certificate III in Automotive Heavy Mechanical Technology.

By completing this course and participating in the Job Ready Program, individuals may have the opportunity to secure employment without requiring employer sponsorship or relocating to a regional area. The following steps outline a potential pathway to achieving this goal.
